of the Reincarnations Studio are an artistic couple originally
from Bowie, Maryland, who have combined their artistic talents to create
some of the most original and striking painted furniture offered anywhere
today, and work together to produce works of functional art in many
mediums, including painted furniture, ceramics, sculpture, murals, and
three-dimensional paper art.
Though they possess different styles, experience, and
training, Kali and Michael both share an artistic vision, and a belief
that art is a gift that should be used to produce positive effects in
the world around them.

"Matisse once said 'creativity takes courage.' These words have take on a special significance in my life, and I find myself quoting them often to students to encourage them to tap into their own imaginations. Matisse gives them permission to explore their creativity without concern as to whether their work will have widespread acceptance. It enables them to open the door of dreams and step into their vision. I love the diversity of artistic expression that is born from their courage. To acknowledge one's creative spirit is to value one's connection with the divine."
"When imagination summons the creative spirit to harmonize with
the intellect - thought is transformed into art. To me, the right-brained
creative process brings a sense of balance in a left- brained world,
one that extends to all aspects of my life. I believe in the importance
of nurturing the creative spirit, both in myself, and in others."
"An artist's imagination is in perpetual motion. I have come to
believe that the Arts provide a firm and unmoving foundation on which
to build a love for learning and for life itself.
I love the sense of 'being in the moment' that the creative process
holds for me; it is a space and time where I am completely myself, utilizing
my best qualities and abilities."
Kali is a visionary artist, and has pursued her artistic drives since childhood, exploring both traditional art techniques, and artisan crafts, including traditional silk batik, ceramic sculpture, painting, and design. She has held creativity summer camps, painting camps, and pottery summer camps for children, and has served as a creative mentor for artistic and special needs children. Kali is a strong supporter for the Arts for children, and in the nurturing of the creative spirit within all of us.

"I believe that the defining qualities of the natural artist are their perception of the world, and the need for this perception to be transformed into expression. Artistic vision may be honed, but it is not learned; it is a matter of perspective, and a passion to create that stems from the true self."
"Even as a child, I knew that my creativity held the key to both my career, and my ultimate well-being, that it was the driving force in my life. Since I was a child, I knew that the artistic process brought me a sense of peace and accomplishment, that the creative process was intrinsically good. As I grew older, I began to appreciate this process in different forms, through both visual art, from painting, drawing, and sculpture, and writing, for both the feeling of completeness that it gave me, and the impact that both artistic perception and expression had on my life."
Michael has been painting and drawing since old enough to hold a brush, and has been selling his work since an early age. He was the first student in the state to be admitted into an Independent Study progrm before his senior year, having exhausted the art cirriculum by his sophomore year in high school. He has worked as a freelance artist for most of his life.
Michael is a devout practicioner of the martial arts, and holds degrees in Kobayashi Shorin-Ryu, Shorinkan Kobujitsu, and Shaolin Chin-Na. He believes the effect of his martial arts training upon his life to be profound. Martial arts has become more than a simple means of defense, but a path of spiritual enlightenment. Michael lives by the code of Bushido, which translated, means "Military-Knight-Way." It is a way of life that demands honor to oneself and to others, truth in all things, respect and courtesy to other human beings and to the earth, duty, and self control.
In addition to creating artwork, Michael enjoys writing and computer-related projects. In between art projects, he spends his time on web design, and as an aspiring writer. Michael has completed his first novel, for which he is currently seeking representation, and has several more novels outlined for completion in the near future.
